Bloggers Who Use Twitter, Take Note! New Study Shows Why People Unfollow

Twitter, as we all know, is highly popular among bloggers and considered to be one of the major traffic sources for their blogs. There are some things to be considered if you wish to use Twitter in a long run.

According to a recent study on why Twitter users most often stop following various accounts on Twitter, it is because they have found that the majority of the time the content of that account’s feed to be too repetitive.

The Social Break-up

Twitter UnfollowLet me say that again: those who repeat themselves on Twitter risk getting unfollowed! This study, a piece titled The Social Break-Up by ExactTarget and cotweet, examined causes behind Twitter users’ decisions to unfollow certain brands and other accounts. Although Twitter users are some of the most loyal social networkers, they are quick to unfollow accounts that displease them.

The Social Break-Up shows that the most commonly cited reason for unfollowing an account is because the “content became repetitive or boring over time.” Over 52% of the Twitter users the report studied gave that as the number one reason regarding why they unfollowed a brand on Twitter.

If you’re interested in learning more about Twitter and unfollowing, read the full report, as it has information regarding emails, Facebook, and more! The entire report is helpful for bloggers who wish to promote their brand; however, I’d like to focus on what this report means for bloggers who use Twitter.

Basically, this confirms the idea that bloggers should avoid using Twitter as simply a way to provide an RSS feed for when they update their blog with new posts. Sure, through widgets that automatically Tweet the titles of your posts when they are published, you can keep your followers informed of your blog’s activity, but while the content on the blog changes, the content of the Twitter feed does not really change at all. Yes, the words in these Tweets change with each new post title, but it’s the same repeated type of content: an announcement that you have a new blog post!

Conclusion

The report concludes with a quotation by a subject of the survey, Amanda, 31, Louisville, KY, who says, “I think each channel should be customized for that group of people, so that each group feels important. That way, a consumer can follow on Twitter, Facebook, and by email and not be overloaded with the same information.” So, basically, if you are a blogger who uses Twitter, you have to understand your fellow Twitter users before you can start connecting with them. What do they use Twitter for? How do they use it? It’s clearly a much different channel than your blog or your Facebook account, so how can you best link them up to use each channel to your advantage?

Your best bet is to be an active Twitter user who also has a blog. Does that make sense? In other words, present yourself to the Twitterverse as an energized Twitter user who can contribute to the world of Twitter. Then, once you show yourself to be a very effective Twitter user, you can count on that reputation leading other Twitter uses to cross channels and visit your own blog.

Indian Woman Poisoned Her Family And Eloped With “So-Called” Facebook Lover

Rakhee, wife of West Delhi jeweller Sameer Swahney created an account on the social networking site Facebook before one and a half years.

Through Facebook she came in contact with a stranger Rahul Kumar. But he claimed to be an US-based NRI.

According to the Police, Rahul had sent her a friend request and she had accepted it. This further developed into friendship and later into dating. Finally they decided to marry. All this happened because Rahul claimed that he owned few hotels in America and had other wealthy businesses.

Since Rakhee was married, Rahul prepared a plan to help her get rid of her family. Initially she refused, but later she agreed to the plan. So one night she offered her family dinner that was laced with poisonous substance

Luckily, Sameer did not eat at home that night and went to bed. Her two children who ate the dinner fell unconscious. “Rakhee then made off with Rs. 5 lakh cash and some gold and diamond jewellery,” the official added.

After robbing her family, Rakhee went to Rahul’s place. He then took her to Bahadurgarh where they stayed in a hotel. “At the hotel, Rahul played the same trick on her and offered her dinner laced with sedatives. She fell unconscious and he fled with all the cash and jewellery,” said the police official.

Meanwhile, Sameer had lodged an FIR against her at the local police station. Police traced Rakhee’s mobile records and arrested her from the hotel.

DCP (West) V Ranganathan said that Rahul is involved in several cases of cheating earlier too. All cases against him have been lodged with South Delhi Police stations.

HOW TO: Get Your Site Featured On Yahoo! News

Yahoo! NewsYahoo! News is one of the most popular news aggregators out there. It gets millions of visitors now and then, and it will be great if your site gets a place there.

Think about the traffic and huge exposure. Yahoo! News works almost similar to Google News and Techmeme. Main stories, which you can see on front page, are generated by content partners indeed.

Also check my articles on getting featured series — Google News and Techmeme.

Getting Featured On Yahoo! News [Basic]

Below I mentioned 4 simple steps to make Yahoo! aware about your site/blog. That will be a great step for achieving this feat.

#1 – Submit Your Site : Make sure your blog/site is indexed by Yahoo! properly. If not, then submit your site URL to Yahoo! search engine.

#2 – Yahoo! Directory : You can actually suggest a site to get listed in Yahoo! Directory — The large scale directory of the Internet., though am not sure whether this one is really useful, still nothing wrong in trying this. 🙂

#3 – Yahoo! Site Explorer : Site Explorer allows you to explore all the web pages indexed by Yahoo! Search. View the most popular pages from any site, dive into a comprehensive site map, and find pages that link to that site or any page. Add your site/blog there.

#4 – Yahoo! News Source Form : Yahoo! likes to have your opinions too. Just fill this form and make sure you satisfy Yahoo! with all your answers and sources. Finally if your blog is approved/accepted, they’ll contact you.

Getting Featured On Yahoo! News [Tips]

You don’t need to work so hard to get featured, instead just follow the normal rules. I already mentioned those tips on getting featured on Google News and Techmeme articles. Below I mentioned 3 common tips for getting featured.

  • Original Content : Unless your content is unique and SEO friendly, you can’t get featured. Also avoid duplicate posts.
  • Multi-Authored : It will be great if your blog has more than one or two authors. For this, enable Guest Blogging on your blog.
  • Response Time : Your pages should index and load quickly.

Google Doodle – HTML5 Colourful Interactive Balls

Today Google unveiled yet another amazing doodle. Google Logos were called as Google Doodles.

This doodble is animated and it reacts to the mouse pointer. If you move it closer to the logo, the particles will disperse. It runs away from the mouse pointer.

The Google Doodle looks like this before moving the mouse pointer.

Google Dooble Balls

This doodle is available in certain countries like U.S. and U.K.

Now the particles disperse after moving the mouse pointer there.
