Ubuntu 10.10, the latest update to the Linux-based Ubuntu operating system has been officially released today. Ubuntu 10.10 is codenamed as Maverick Meerkat.

Updated Applications – Ubuntu 10.10
- Default e-mail application Evolution now optimised to run much faster compared to the version in Ubuntu 10.04.
- Shotwell now replaced F-Spot as the default photo manager in Ubuntu.
- Desktop social application Gwibber has support for Twitter’s new authentication service ‘OAuth’.
- Featured app’ slideshows layout is improved.
- The default theme in Ubuntu changed and improved.
- Enhanced installer allows installation of MP3 and other restricted format codecs.

Till now i’m with windows but have changed its version lastly but never changed the whole brand 😀 recently i thought to install ubuntu but now my thinking again changed to ‘why i change windows for ubuntu?’ 😉
Ubuntu is easy to use and great looking OS. Will surely download and give this version a try.
Cool’! Been looking forward to this big day for some time now. Glad to see the Software Center, it’s way better than the ancient Add/Remove thingy in the older versions.
Good to see FF still there. But I wonder after Chrome’s Enormous success, it hasn’t been able to grab the top spot in the top menu area.

Actually Ubuntu version numbers are the code of month and years. Like Ubuntu 10.10 = 10 for october and 10 year 2010, again Ubuntu 9.04 = 9 for year 2009 and 04 for month April… Ubuntu released twice in a year, in April, and in October … Try it you’ll love it…
