A site with large number of ads and posters irritates me and i can think of my blog readers feelings too. So, i always use less number of ads in my site and also maintain constant design.
As long as you write good and constantly, you're on the right track. Design is important, but, as always, content is the king.

A nice looking design and layout with not to many ads on a site would be great. I don't like sites that use too many. The site needs to earn so we should most likely expect some. Finding a good balance between it all might be the key.
