Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2012 [REVIEW]

Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2012Romanian-based antivirus software company Bitdefender is probably one of the most famous antivirus developers in the world. Their products normally feature antivirus and antispyware, personal firewall, privacy control, user control and backup for corporate and home users. They also stop privacy threats by filtering the links received from your Facebook and Twitter friends. Now I’m going to review about their recent Antivirus product.

Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2012 is what we are talking about. It provides essential silent security for your Windows-based computer against viruses, spyware and phishing attempts. Antivirus Plus 2012 also takes care of your social media profiles. It keeps your Twitter and Facebook profiles safe from any privacy threats.

The best thing I like about this Antivirus Plus 2012 is the “Autopilot” feature. It saves time and avoids hassles. What it does? It makes the best security decisions for you. This means no pop-ups, no alerts, nothing to configure.

The much improved Antivirus provides advance warning of risky websites, prevents ID thefts, and many more. Below you can see some of the new features introduced in Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2012.

Essential Features of Antivirus Plus 2012

Unlike normal antivirus, Bitdefender antivirus products provide state of the art features to cope with trending aspects. Some of them are :

  • Personal Data Filter : This filter prevents critical data like your social security number, credit card details and other personal details from ever leaving your computer.
  • Chat Encryption : It provides encryption for your conversations to be private on Yahoo Messenger.
  • Scan Dispatcher : Triggers system scans when resource usage falls below a certain threshold.
  • Vulnerability Scanner : This scanner checks for any missing or outdated security software and potentially unsafe system settings.
  • Virtualized Browser : This browser isolates from the operating system in a Bitdefender-provided environment to block web-based threats.

Bitdefender is one of the best Antivirus Products I have ever encountered. It is one of the most trusted one in the world.

  1. I have used this software since October last year and don’t quite have a good impression about it. Up until now I have been forced to re-install my windows systems TWICE!
The biggest problem is that it keeps causing my internet browse (google chrome at that time), then I use Opera instead. I do full system scan and it causing crash to several programs (Opera and Windows live Photo gallery, there are several more but I can’t remember since I uninstall them immediately after this incident). The only survivor is Firefox, after that no more major complaint except slow response and occasional lags. After several times, similar problem occurs (with similar notice) but it do no more to internet browser. It start messing with windows explorer.
Another major thing about using this antivirus is that it occasionally skip song whenever I use media player or itunes. And it happened every 3~5 songs played and quite annoying.
Now I really hesitant whether to re-installing Bitdefender or just buying another Antivirus, cause it did quite a lot mess on my Laptop.

  2. Nice way to stop emerging e-threats that other products miss due to its live and virtualized behavior-based detection, in addition to cloud-based services.. Thanks

  4. Great review. There are a lot of free antivirus software out there but most of the time, those aren't enough protection. Some of these services are paid, and are paid for a reason. They have more to offer.I really give my computer security a lot of priority because one instance of unwanted access can ruin a lot of hard work for me.

  5. In the new version, the program requires to restart your PC more oftenly. On startup, the program is getting an update for the recent events and security issues, which is great, but the bad thing is that a reboot is required for the updates to take place. Although many people complain of this, we think that this is the strength of this type of software – reboot is really important when it comes to security. So, imagine that in a week you get more than 90 notifications for a “reboot required”.

  6. I use it and I have to agree it does absolutely everything for you…well except the updates need some manual restarts for the PC from time to time but that`s not actually any bother. By far the best edition I`ve used when it comes to resource consumption and flexibility.

  7. I am a big fan of AVG and was a little surprised when my computer technician suggested Bitdefender Anti-virus Plus 2012. I immediately jumped to the conclusion that he was being paid by the company for promotions. So I decided to search online and found your article, must say, you have provided an unbiased opinion of it. I think there is no harm in giving the demo version a try and if it is good enough then I will go ahead and buy it. Anti-viruses are a must, computers almost always face threats from viruses and like it or not, anti-viruses are the only saving, secure grace.

  8. I've been using the free version from Windows and haven't been super impressed but only really knew of Norton which I'm not a big fan of either. I'll definitely check out Bitdefender; it looks like it covers all of the bases I'm looking for.
