5 Gadgets That Will Go Mainstream By 2041

Technology is a wonderful thing, isn’t it? And just think about how far we’ve gone in this department in the last 30 years or so… not to mention how new technological developments seem to take place increasingly faster! We find it safe to assume that – provided the EOTWAWKI (end of the world as we know it) does not occur in the next thirty years – we will likely get a chance to handle some *really* exciting technology, by the year 2041.

In fact, we cannot help but wonder just what kind of amazing pieces of technology will go mainstream by that time. If you are also inclined towards musing, then you may find it intriguing to explore our predictions for the…

Top Gadgets we hope to see before kicking the bucket.

This will be the iPad of the future, of course. We’ve already seen the first steps in terms of auto-stereoscopic technology, so it shouldn’t be too unreasonable to hope for fully functioning holograms within three decades, right? By then, tablet computers will gain a new dimension as they are able to project images right out from the screen for anyone to meddle with. You will get to watch holographic pictures and video, traverse websites in a way that will make the Minority Report look antique, and… just imagine how awesome FaceTime will be, and how many Star Wars jokes will be just waiting to happen.

Sure, the current slew of e-readers is pretty cool, but just imagine how it awesome these devices will get when e-ink technology isn’t as  expensive. By then, e-book reading devices will just like a real book that you can leaf through…. except, you will be able to populate the content of all pages at the click of a button. There will be no need for an integrated keyboard either; you will just have to scribble down your thoughts on e-paper and they’ll get instantly OCR’d into the documents. As extra bonus, they will even kind of smell like an actual book used to …. back when trees still weren’t endangered species.

bracelet PC

As personal computers keep getting smaller and more powerful, it’s only a matter of time until they get so compact that you will actually get to carry around your full-power workstation in something as discreet (and fashionable) as a bracelet. And since electronic paper will be widespread by then (and hopefully more suitable for video than at time of writing), lugging around a screen would be pointless, since there will be no shortage of devices you can sync your bracelet PC with to display pictures through. Not to mention it will probably be able to broadcast pictures via wireless to your retina!

In the future, phones will become obsolete. Because eventually, tele-portation devices will see the light of day, and everything will change. And hopefully no scientists will have to get merged with a Fly to bring about such advancements. The transportation industries will be drastically changed, when you can zap yourself across the world at the flick of a button of your trusted portalphone. After all… speaking to people remotely through a screen is so… early XXI century, you know?

Since we’re going all out with these predictions, why not propose a device that allows anyone to upload their consciousness on-line? Granted, having a living and breathing body is surely an amazing experience, but should we peacefully succumb to death just because our bodies come with an expiration date? Not when a technology finally appears which provides a way to link all of our individuality to digital support! When the shell is eventually crumbled, all that remains will be able to float around the cyberspace quite leisurely, and keep dreaming of an even crazier future!

Do you agree with these predictions? Do you believe that we’ve been reading one too many science fiction novels? Can you think of imaginary gadgets even cooler than those we mentioned? If so, don’t hesitate to share your thoughts by using the comments box down below.

Mozilla Firefox 4 Should Be Set For Release Any Day Now

Firefox 4January 25, Firefox officially released beta 10 of its upcoming web browser. Although it’s already been delayed by a fair while, this beta should be removing most of the bugs and code errors that they’ve been trying to clear since the previous beta’s –  meaning that the new Firefox 4 should be released to the public any day now.

In case you haven’t heard about what’s been going on behind Mozilla for the past while, Firefox 4 is taking a huge step up from its previous 3.6 version. Sporting heaps of new features and developments which has been described as being the next step for Mozilla towards taking over the browser market.

Firefox 4 brings Mozilla to Mozilla 2

The new features that have been developed into Firefox 4 have been described as what will take Mozilla towards version 2. A re-invented browser interface, this new and upcoming version of Firefox integrates the features that were planned out in previous versions but not completely added. So now we are going to have an amazing web browser that is jam packed with features to improve your online experience. Here’s a closer look at them now.

Some of the major features of Firefox 4:

A re-designed browser interface:

The new Firefox interface brings the tab bare to above the navigation pane. Just like in chrome and opera, Firefox now shares a similar interface. This version also takes advantage of Windows Aero to make things just that little bit better.

Hardware acceleration:

Now taking full advantage of hardware acceleration. Firefox 4 will make use of hardware elements such as the GPU to deliver a much faster and responsive web experience. Html 5 support and the likes are all included.

Crash protection:

This new version of Firefox will support crash protection, meaning that separate functions such as adobe flash and Microsoft Silverlight will not bring your browser down if they stop functioning.

A few of the reasons to get ready:

I haven’t seen a major update from Mozilla in a long time so this is something that I’m certainly looking forward too. I’m not a chrome fan and I think that Firefox offers many more features and customizations than any of the other browsers do offer. This update is certainly not one you should miss.

Mother Kills Her Baby After Farmville Interruption

FarmVilleFarmVille is a real-time farm simulation game developed by Zynga, available as an application on the social-networking website Facebook and as an App on both the Apple iPhone and Android. Quite recently it was also available on Apple iPad.

The game allows members of Facebook to manage a virtual farm by plowing land, planting, growing and harvesting virtual crops, harvesting trees and bushes, and by raising livestock. FarmVille started as a clone of the popular Farm Town.

A 22-year-old mother (Alexandra V. Tobias) from Jacksonville, Florida, arrested for shaking her 3-month-old son to death after his crying interrupted her FarmVille game. She told the cops that she shook the baby, then smoked a cigarette for composing herself and again she proceeded to shake him again. Microsoft Finally Launches Windows Phone 7

Windows Phone 7Quite recently Windows Phone 7 was officially announced by Microsoft. Windows Phone 7 is a mobile operating system developed by Microsoft, and is the successor to their Windows Mobile platform. You can expect a completely new finger-friendly User Interface. It also enables easy integration with Microsoft services Xbox Live and Bing. Also contains third-party applications like eBay, IMDB, Netflix, and some music apps.

You can also expect integration with social networking sites like Facebook. As of now Samsung, LG and HTC are powered by Windows Phone 7. There are nine Windows Phone 7 devices that will be available in the U.S. from top manufacturers like Dell, HTC, Samsung, and LG. One of them, the HTC 7 Surround, has just been officially announced by AT&T. Also there was a buzz like devices based on WP7 won’t support copy and paste, and tethering. People behind the Windows Phone 7 said the user experience is consistent and delightful, and also explained that “hundreds of thousands” of developers were working on applications for the OS.

Personally I feel Windows Phone 7 is hitting the smartphone market too late, now it is hard for them to cope with iOS, Android, and BlackBerry.

Samsung To Discontinue Its Symbian Support Service

Samsung and SymbianSamsung officially announced that they will discontinue its Symbian support service beginning December 31 2010. They informed all their developers regarding this and they would remove all Symbian content by year’s end. Earlier Sony Ericsson declared that they are going to use Android & Windows Phone 7 and going to quit Symbian Platform.

People this is not a big deal since Samsung has recently focused more on manufacturing Android-based devices. For example Galaxy S and also they are concentrating on their own mobile platform, bada. Samsung’s upcoming tablet, Samsung Galaxy tab is also powered by Android. Even Nokia once said they will use Symbian only for their cheap phones and pursue MeeGo for the N-Series.

Though Symbian is one of the widely used platforms, it is still having big problems from Android and other platforms. Symbians fans hopes the next two iterations of the OS which includes Symbian^3 and Symbian^4, would bring some significant improvements and make good changes.

Like Sony Ericsson, we believe Samsung might still be a member of Symbian Foundation.
