CONNECT WITH HBB ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Having lots of categories and tags on your WordPress blog confuses your readers and it won’t build a good navigation path. By organizing your WordPress tags you can fix this. You can remove unused WordPress tags, i.e., WordPress tags with 0 posts. This simple WordPress tip will help you to remove WordPress tags with 0 posts in bulk.

Deleting WordPress Tags With 0 Posts

1. Go to your WordPress Dashboard. Then Posts | Post Tags.

2. Click on the Screen Options in top right. Change the number of Post Tags to display, make it around 100-500.

Remove WordPress Tags

3. Now click on the Posts in the right hand side. Now you can see the all the posts with 0 tags. Now select and delete them, you can also use bulk action for that.

Hope you would have found this simple tip useful. Feel free to discuss about organizing WordPress tags below.

Great. I have a few tags where were not linking. I just linked them to posts instead of deleting them.

Thank you SO much for this very easy to follow tutorial, it worked like a charm! Lots of people seem to like adding unrelated tags to get their articles read and don't realize that it just makes the reader/searcher upset with them for so doing.

Since I'm running an article directory, it is imperative that the tags actually relate to the article submitted.

Your tip on how to delete those zero-post tags is excellent.

      Thanks a million,

      Donna

Oh, this is a good tip. We should remove unnecessary Tags from our blog so that it will look neat and clean! It's a good way to make our blog more comfortable on the eyes too!

Since we are on this topic, what do you think of my blog? Is it easy to read? 🙂

Btw, if you sort it by Post and delete once all those with value 0 via bulk action, be careful in the next screen before marking and deleting 🙂 The sorting goes off after one delete. You have to sort each time before bulk marking and deleting – just did it.

I seem to have more than 400 unused tags as per the admin console report. Not sure why it is so, because everytime I post, I chose from what is previously used and available. if not there, I type in one or two more. Scared to delete them now 🙂
