To be sincere, the learning process is not all easy and fun! You will agree that the days when education was all fun and excitement were the days when all you did was to sing and eat. As you grew, education became greatly demanding, many responsibilities are now involved in studying, learning, and keeping up with assignments. But, do you know that Scrum can help greatly in helping you study?
Though Scrum was originally designed for project management and development to aid teamwork, efficiency, collective values and routines as important tools for development, its success has been thoroughly documented across vast human endeavors. Today, we now have Scrum at school. Therefore, in this post, you will be learning how you can use Scrum to help in your studies and make you a better student.
The principles of Scrum are beneficial in every student’s life. Some of these advantages of EduScrum help you to learn to structure, organize and prioritize your work in the best way. It improves and increases the pace with which you study each day, write my literature review, it helps to use collective efforts in the execution of tasks in group projects, it allows you to study effectively and efficiently and, it grants you freedom in bringing about achievements of your goals and aims.
Perhaps, one of the greatest testimony of using Scrum at school is that it grants students autonomy in their roles and study and also helps them to procrastinate lesser. This is due to the fact that a report of progress is always expected to be made by the user and the flexibility which it allows is not a ground for laziness or self-indulgence.
Practical ways Scrum Can Help Students in Studying
1. Scrum Emphasizes Structure and Organization in Learning
It is undeniable that many students engage in a lot of activities and have just a little or nothing to show for it. The reason behind this is not far-fetched – most of these activities lack organization and structure, hence efforts easily go down the drain!
Applying scrum at school to your courses prompts you to make assessments of how best you can learn in a quick and easy way. Scrum can help to organize your work as you write a literature review. You will be able to hit on the right technique that works best with every subject you take before the end of the semester.
2. Scrum Allows you to make assessments on your Academic activities
Many times, a lack of feedback on tasks performed by students doesn’t contribute positively to learning. This is because updates on how well the student is performing are not usually known, leading to no improvement in learning processes in the traditional system of learning.
Scrum, however, puts emphasis on receiving feedback from the professors who give you tests, assignments, and essays. This way, the Scrum framework puts students in a place where they seek constant improvement based on the feedback they receive on the tasks they do.
3. Teamwork and organization
The truth is that all students have their own strengths, scrum simply brings out these strengths in them when it gives them the opportunity to take on roles in specific projects. Let’s get very practical on this now:
As a student, when you are given teamwork to do, you can simply break down the assignment into small fragments and bits among your group members. Sprints are called the breakdown of these tasks. Each sprint will then have its own specific time and duration for completion. Before the deadline, every team member will give their periodic report to the team on the progress of their roles, this way, procrastination is reduced to the barest minimum.
Your group will also have a Scrum board where tasks, assignments, and progress on the task can be easily updated so that the group members can have an overall view of the assignment. A review of the task performed by each member of the team will be assessed after every sprint so that improvements can be suggested and strengths of each team member can be harnessed for the progress of the team. The team is usually led by a scrum master who is also a member of the team.
4. Right Perspectives about Roles and Responsibilities
A lot of students are usually scared about taking on roles and responsibilities because it seems as something gigantic which they can’t do. This occurs regularly from assignments to projects and even preparing for a presentation. But with scrum, students can learn how to approach tasks effectively by breaking them into levels which they can use their innate ability to solve.
A Sample Scrub Board for an Assignment Due in Five Days
|Accomplished (A) / Not accomplished (NA)|
|Day 1||Look for resources online|
|Day 2||Make notes and organize points|
|Day 3||Start writing|
|Day 4||Proofread and edit|
Looking at this, you set daily goals for yourself and assess what you are able to carry out each day. Your productivity is enhanced, you work at own pace and that way, you enable yourself to go beyond what you think you can meet on your own.
Through the Scrum Master certification training program, students will learn how to manage their daily academic activities and endeavors by incorporating structure and organization in learning, effective learning execution and assessment which are very effective in helping them in their study if it is given a chance.
