HellBound Bloggers Reloaded!

Redesign

As I told you before “Changes are unavoidable and inevitable”, remember Thesis Makeover? This New Theme’s name is Bureau News. Have to appreciate both the designer and the design. Kudos. I customized the theme to the needs of myself and HBB.

Overall the images in the theme are less than 10 KB. That’s quite encouraging since Google Search Rankings Considers Site Speed. I also removed many plugins and replaced them with codes.

Global Statistics

  • Total HTTP Requests : 37

I used Thesis 1.7 for HBB previously, but had only Personal License.

Personal License – Use of Thesis on one live website and one localized development server.

And am working on a big project right now, so thought of using Thesis on that website. But if Time and Money favors, I’ll buy the Developer’s License, which allows me to use Thesis on sites that I own.

I have more plans for a better design, hopefully very soon. Have to improvise the logo and some other sections of the blog. All I can say is keep reading and you should be pleasantly surprised shortly.

Yeah, your feedback is greatly appreciated!

  1. Theme is clean and simple. Loved it. Read this blog for the first time today, enjoyed reading your content. Your theme is not allowing me to leave from here :-). But anyway I have to leave, will come back soon. Keep up the good work.

  2. Aha! I was wondering why you had taken down the CommentLuv plugin and I guess, now I know why! πŸ™‚

Great looking yet simplistic design. Would like to see you revamping the Logo, though! Cheers…

  3. Lookin' good my man!

I notice above you talk about the commentluv plugin; even before that you need the subscribe to comments plugin ASAP please. πŸ˜‰

Also, a post (or more) on the plugins you replaced with code, and the code used for each, might be a really good idea…a couple how to posts for those wanting to code over plugins. πŸ™‚

  5. I like simplistic themes and hence I like this one (and also the one on millionclues). By the way your homepage total size is more or less the same as mine (~200kb) as I had optimized it for speed recently. Also had done w3c validation a couple of days ago. Another point about w3c validation is that you have to also do it for single posts, pages etc. There are 100+ validation errors on single posts. This is important because majority of the search hits comes to single posts.

Your blog now loads a lot faster though it can be still improved. I think it’s something to do with your hosting service.

    • Yeah, minimalist themes are now getting lot and lot familiar.

And W3C validation is quite encouraging, but I have to remove Alexa Widget and Facebook “Like” widget unfortunately.

And this theme, without ads, looks great! πŸ˜€

      • That facebook like widget is causing 8 validation errors for me on single post. That’s the only error I have on single posts now πŸ™‚

  7. Congrats for the new style and them buddy! but hey do make the font a little bit big. Don't you think its smaller than optimum for a better readership..

      • I think you know the solution as you are already expert on these issues. But you can either change the CSS entry of Nav bar or of the content text, and designate it for you wanted style. πŸ™‚

        p.s missing your CommentLuv plugin.
