If you want to make money blogging, then you have to blog about the things that people are spending money on. Seems simple enough. Yet, the problem is that many of these topics are already covered by other blogs. In many cases, thousands of them.
So, jumping into a niche that makes money may not be a money make for you. As a result, many bloggers look for little served topics and don’t bother going where the money is. After a year, they realize that they chose a niche that is impossible to make money.
Does that mean that blogging is over? No, it just means that you have to have the right strategy for jumping into a saturated niche. Which I will share in this article.
1 – Niche down
Goin granular, or niching down is the process of covering a broad topic with a narrow focus. Let’s take the cryptocurrency niche as an example.
It would be hard to find a more saturated niche as there is a lot of money to be made with “buy Bitcoin instantly online” type of articles as the commissions are huge. Which is exactly why you should dive into the niche, but in a more round about way.
To get people to want to buy a cryptocurrency through your tracking id you have to write about topics not generally covered by other, bigger bloggers that helps people understand the topic. Then they will be more likely to see your article and make a trade through your link.
There are unlimited blog posts that can be written about the topic, you just have to research them.
Use keyword research tools like Ahrefs to find the topics that are not being covered by other bloggers that readers are looking for.
2 – Offer solutions
As with any business, you can be successful when you are helping to solve a problem. It isn’t enough to just write until you can’t write anymore. You need to have your content super focused.
This means that you have to find some problems people aren’t finding the answers to and then write about that. Going back to the crypto niche, let’s say that people are having trouble understanding the difference between two new crypto coins. Find two coins that don’t have much competition with lots of blogs and then write a detailed summary of both of them with everything a reader would need to know to make a decision on which one to buy.
3 – Have lots of channels for traffic
SEO in a saturated niche is very difficult. Though, if you do look for the niche within a niche you will have more luck. But, in a saturated niche, it really pays off to have traffic coming from multiple sources.
Not only does this help to bring traffic while you wait for your SEO efforts to take hold, but it is a good hedge against any of the traffic sources being affected by an algorithm change.
Google is notorious for changing the algorithm that leaves big blogs in the dust overnight. If you have traffic coming from a Youtube channel, social media and a podcast, then you are covered in case this happens.
