Although your blog probably isn’t going to compile the latest news and gossip, you’d probably be pleased if it joined the general stream of news and gossip. But in order to manage a blog that achieves popularity and might even go viral now and then, you obviously have to make it interesting and newsworthy.
Blog popularity doesn’t come out of how many articles you can generate, or how long your blog has lasted; it’s based on how many people love it and share it, and keep coming back for more.
When you launched your blog, you likely had the best intentions at the time. Even the best intentions can fall flat, though; and maybe, like so many others, you found yourself posting less often, or feeling less passion, and putting less research into whatever you posted.
These are pertinent concerns if you hope to create a successful and newsworthy blog that keeps people talking.
How Often You Post Can Matter
There really is no set rule for how often you should post to a business blog, but you surely need to set a regular schedule for posts, whether you impose once a week or three times as your goal. If you commit to specific days to post, readers will get used to that and return on those days, or soon after, to see what’s new.
Of course you’d better upload quality posts because that will get you better viewership and make people want to come back for more. Unless you have a team of free-lance writers on hand who generate excellent content on a steady basis, you probably shouldn’t commit to a daily post. You still have a business to run, after all.
Pace your blog posts to every other day or so. But once you are committed to that schedule, make sure to stick to it and update that often.
Put In A Little Research To Back You Up
With regard to quality posts, the last thing you want to do is post some gibberish on your site that makes no sense to anyone. You could talk about subjects that are relatable only for a certain demographic, but you aren’t going to develop a successful and popular business blog if no one can relate to your posts.
If that’s the case, what’s the point? It’s not that difficult to do a little research, and it’s fairly simple to show the readers you’ve done that work. Use in-text links in discussions where you’ve gotten an idea from another website or blog.
This is a great way to build up your blog’s credibility.
Passion Is Valuable
Passion in your posts is also worthwhile if you aspire to create a blog that will generate discussion and become newsworthy. You started your business because you had a passion for something, presumably. Your blog should serve as an outlet for how intensely you feel about the work you do.
Expressing passion in a blog is as easy as creating a well-written post that shows you enjoy what you do and put everything into making your business something great. When people see that, many will be inspired to become your clients and customers.
Follow The Blogging Rules
You would do well to observe the basic rules of blogging, such as knowing your niche and sticking to it. You won’t hold people’s attention with a blog that’s all over the place.
They’ll expect to come to your blog and get something specific, so if you get too far off track too often, many will stop returning.
Some of the other rules of blogging you should be following include not putting so much stress on yourself that you post too often and upload inferior work, linking where links are appropriate, and making sure your posts are directed at the audience your site caters to.
