Blogs are a dime a dozen. That’s part of what makes them so exciting, though. No matter the subject, you can go online and do a search and find somebody somewhere talking about exactly what you’re interested in reading. The trick with blogging lies in several different secrets. You might be a clever writer and your sentence format is perfect, but if you don’t give people something to latch onto from the beginning that keeps their interest and keeps them scrolling down the page, your blog just lost a viewer and that’s exactly the opposite of what you’re trying to achieve.
If your passion is anything and everything home related, you’ve come to the right place. People are writing blogs about compliance having to do with buying and selling a home, painting walls to look like nature scenes, decorating for fall, and cleaning homes left and right, but if you want to make your home based blog special and something that people all around the world are itching to read, focus on these things:
Give People Ingenuity
Since home based advice is so easy to come by, if you want a blog that is going to have a high readership, you’re going to have to write about things that people aren’t used to seeing. You can write about the same things everybody else is doing with their homes, but you have to put a fresh spin on it.
Be ingenious. Be creative. Think of decoration trends that haven’t been acted on before. When you create something new and you blog about it, people will be intrigued because your blog is about something creative that is fresh on the palette. You can also elaborate on your process. All great things have a progression of failure until something finally works. If you allow your readers to see that you’re human, they’ll bond with you, see how your failures turned to successes, and you’ll have a successful fan base.
Give A DIY Play By Play
The DIY, or “do it yourself” trend is something that people love in theory, but the problem is this: Too many people don’t have faith that they’re creative or skilled enough to actually do the DIY home related stuff so they don’t even try. This is such a shame because people can do so much more than they think and in regards to home related stuff, DIY is usually the best way to go to save money.
If you write blogs that give people DIY ideas that are easy to complete, your readership will skyrocket. Give people a play by play of how to get stuff around the house done. If you think your instructions are simple enough for a child to follow, you’re doing it right. It’s not offensive to the reader, you’re just giving them something they can’t fail at and they’ll love you for it and they’ll keep coming back to your blog for more.
