Apple recently announced yet another good news for their fans. They offered a preview of Mac OS X 10.7 a.k.a Lion, which includes a Mac App Store and many iPad/iPhone like features. Steve Jobs told it was inspired by the company’s efforts with iOS. New features of Mac OS X 10.7 includes Launchpad application launcher, which gives you an iPad-like grid of icons and also lets you create iOS-style folders for applications, and Mission Control, new window management app, which gives you a unified view of all your open windows, open apps, and your dock.
If you click the Launchpad icon, it will bring up an iPad/iPhone like home screen, which allows you to browse and select apps in a very similar manner. They also have an exclusive App Store for OS X, which will also be coming to Snow Leopard. The Mac OS X Lion 10.7 and the App Store were announced in the “Back to Mac” event yesterday. Mac OS X Lion 10.7 is slated for release in Summer 2011.
I just upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.6 today. At this point the OS has remained fairly stable since 10.5.8. In fact many people that I know are still using Leopard 10.5.8 after they had so many problems with Snow 10.6-10.6.1 and reverted back.
While it looks interesting, I’m going to take the ground of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” for at least another year or two. But this doesn’t mean that I won’t try to test it out on a Hackintosh if Steve Jobs continues to allow it for this series hehe 🙂
It will be awesome
wow…
great news…
i am loving it…….
I hope Mac OS X 10.7 would done wonders like iOS. Since it has almost same features like iOS so expectations are great.
Apple rocks always as usual
I appreciate Apple for launching high quality products. But Apple only wants to cater to US and European markets. In India they have opened a few stores (via Reliance Digital) but its really difficult to get a service for their products.
Great news for Mac OS X user’s…..
Great and its really incredible for Apple freaks…….
