15+ Tips To Increase Your Website Crawl Rate Easily

Google Crawl Rate is nothing but the frequency with which Googlebot visits your site and it can vary from hours to weeks. If your website’s crawl rate is good, then it obviously means Google appeals to your site and they love your site. Below I mentioned 15 useful tips to increase your website crawl rate easily. Though I wrote this article with the word ‘websites’ in my mind, most of these tips apply only to WordPress blogs.

#1 – Increase Pagerank : If your pages are ranked well, then it may add some more points to your site. Get more backlinks to your website. How to get solid backlinks? Do Guest Blogging, Comment, and use directories. Check Recommended Useful Resources below.

#2 – Faster & Smaller Pages : Reduce your page size. Remove unwanted widgets.

#3 – Server with Good Uptime : Host your blog on a reliable server with good uptime. You don’t want Googlebots to visit your blog during downtime right?

#4 – Fresh Content : Believe me or not, search engines love fresh content. If it is new and healthy (SEO friendly), then your chances are high.

#5 – Avoid Duplication : And yes, search engines hate Plagiarism. They may ban your site and reduce your search engine ranking. New Google Algorithm is very strict on this.

#6 – Update Regularly : Update your blog with new content regularly. The more you update your blog the more often Search Engines will send their crawlers to your blog to index it.

#7 – Use Sitemaps : Almost every blog has a sitemap, if your blog doesn’t have one, you are a loser! Kindly use Google XML Sitemaps WordPress plugin to create a special sitemap which helps search engines.

#8 – Adjust Crawl Speed : If you have Google Webmasters Tools account, then you can easily increase Google crawl rate through it. If you have created Webmasters account recently, you may not see this option. This only applies to sites that have been running for some time only.

#10 – Unique Title & Meta Tags : Use relevant and unique title for your blog posts. Make use you have also used Meta tags.

#11 – Monitor Google Crawl Rate : You can monitor Google Crawl rate using Google Webmaster Tools. You can access crawl stats through it.

#12 – Interlink Websites Pages : Recommended to interlink your website pages and it will also help you to achieve effective PageRank. You can also use WordPress plugin Automatic SEO links, just choose a word and a URL and this plugin will replace all matches in the posts of your blog.

#14 – Correct Header Response : Make sure your server returns the correct header response.

#15 – Submit your URL (if you haven’t) : Basic thing, if you haven’t submitted your blog URL to Google, do it now. You can also submit your URL to popular search engines.

#17 – Avoid Black Hat SEO Techniques : Say no to Black Hat SEO Techniques, they are useful and will have only temporary effect on your effect. Some of the common Black Hat SEO Techniques are Keyword stuffing, Invisible text and doorway pages.

  2. In my opinion, making your site trustworthy and reliable, building high quality backlinks are the most efficient way to increase page rank. Build outbound links from your website to authority sites like Wikipedia. Just make sure that you are linking to post that is relevant to your niche/keyword. It tells Google that your are also contributing or supplying more information.

  6. Seems as though Google recommends allowing them to determine the crawl rate of your sites. If they are crawled more often is the advantage that you content will be visible quicker than usual?

    I have a question here. If you have google webmasters account. It already has the option of adjusting the crawl rate. I don’t understand the need of other options to increase the crawl rate. But I still like the resources you mentioned like the “6 Best PageRank 6 Blogs To Write Guest Posts” etc.

    • That was a good question mate, crawl rate mostly depends on server’s capabilities. This range may vary from one site to another and across time based on several factors. Setting the crawl rate to a lower-than-default value may affect the coverage and freshness of your site in Google’s search results. However, setting it to higher value than the default won’t improve your coverage or ranking. If you do set a custom crawl rate, the new rate will be in effect for 90 days after which it resets to Google’s recommended value.
