Create SPF And DKIM Records For Your Domain Name

If you are confused why you should create SPF and DKIM Records for your domain name (or email address), then you are not alone. We got plenty of similar questions with the word – “WHY?” In short, this is for avoiding/preventing spam emails. This isn’t actually enabled by default, but you can do this via your web hosting’s cPanel account easily. You can create SPF and DKIM records with the help of TXT record. You can do this via your web hosting server panel or your domain registrar account.

An SPF (Sender Policy Framework) record is a DNS record that verifies which mail servers are allowed to send email(s) associated with your domain name.

A DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) record is a DNS record that prevents forged emails by adding a digital signature to outgoing message headers.

The steps are almost the same, but in some domain registrars like GoDaddy, you can’t access/edit the DNS records if you are not hosting with them. If your web hosting server has a cPanel then we have an easy way to fix this. In this article I’ll share the simple steps to create DKIM and SPF records for your domain name.

It’ll show the status as “Enabled (DNS Check Passed) Active (DNS Check Passed)” for SPF Record and “Enabled Active (DNS Check Passed)” for DKIM Record.

Create SPF And DKIM Records Status Enable cPanel

By this you can do email authentication for your domain name, which helps you to prevent spam emails.

Sometimes you would have got an email from email address like ‘name@example.com’, but it wasn’t actually sent by ‘name@example.com’, this is where spammers show their tactics to forge messages. By configuring SPF and DKIM records you can prevent such things to happen for your email address.
