Earth Day: Internet Killing The Planet? [INFOGRAPHIC]
Written by Pradeep Kumar in Featured, Infographic - Print This Post
Earth Day is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment. Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in first held on April 22, 1970.

I got some interesting information from this Infographic (from WordStream). Mentioned some of them below.
- The entire world will be online around 2017*.
- In 2005 The United States had a total of 10.3 Million Data Centers. That year these data centers consumed enough energy to power the entire UK for 2 months.
- One Google search for “soylent green” produces the same amount of CO2 as driving a car 3 inches.
- A single SPAM message produces the equivalent of 0.3 grams of CO2.
Do tell us how bad (or good) the Internet is for the planet.

A single SPAM message produces the equivalent of 0.3 grams of CO2… Unbelievable and pity at the same time.
I really don't think that Internet is harmful, there are other things which really hurt our planet: industrial pollution, cars & traffic, etc. As I see it Internet has become a necessity and for many a way of life.
I wasn't aware of this Google's CO2 Production!! Looks like internet has become one of the major pollutant.
I didn't know Google is adding so much to the CO2 levels.. I only knew the better side…
Great research!! I don't have any idea about these facts. Really internet is also affecting our environment.
It's really shocking to see this info-graphic. Internet too affecting our green world, never think about it.
My mind got boggled at the 10 MILLION data centres in the USA alone (and that was 6 years ago)..! All churning out heat and then also using aircon to cool the rooms down…
Maybe it's time to 'go green' and stop watching so much rubbish on YouTube…
