Wikileaks Dropped From PayPal Too?
Written by Pradeep Kumar in Technology - Print This Post
Wikileaks used PayPal for getting donations from various supporters across the nation. WikiLeaks is an international non-profit media organization that publishes submissions of otherwise unavailable documents from anonymous news sources and leaks. Its website, launched in 2006, is run by The Sunshine Press. Donating using PayPal is one of the 6 ways Wikileaks used for getting donations.
I tried to donate using the PayPal donate button for testing, and I got the following message, which stated “This recipient is currently unable to receive money.”

PayPal responded with this message,
“PayPal has permanently restricted the account used by WikiLeaks due to a violation of the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy, which states that our payment service cannot be used for any activities that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity. We’ve notified the account holder of this action”
Wikileaks also removed the ‘PayPal’ donation option from this donating section of theirs.

This is certainly an outrageous display of power by the US government. I mean they themselves do all these wrong things and when those wrong things leak into the open through some sources why are the after the source. First of all they should stop doing all those wrong things. A government needs to be transparent with all its transaction and decisions.
Yea Shiva, guess the Government is afraid of something. I think some major issue is hidden behind this.
ya shiva i can understand, you have also made a donation to wikileaks , right?
WikiLeaks’s very tough time is going.
Ya I agree
US targeted them.
Oh god save wikileaks !
Wow… This certainly sucks, first the DDOS attacks, then Amazon, then their website goes off and now this? Is there anyone willing to support the truth out there?
But i have heard that ipv6 is not protecting against DDos attack, maybe they are using ipv4
the policy of US and their allied is well understandable by all even a child. so far, there was no prob with wikileaks but when they disclosed something hidden, they has become villain. it’s nothing but the oppression of the mighty “?”. it’s a natural process to stop the voice of truth. thanks, for sharing.
being punished for brining the truth to the world
this was to happen as PayPal cannot afford to mess with US government…
Huh. That sucks for WikiLeaks! I wonder if PayPal will cite exactly how WikiLeaks “breached” the PayPal terms of service. I doubt it!
Thanks for sharing!
That’s sad. Can you just send them a check? How much you want to donate?
they are dropped actually, it is sad
they are also going to arrest that guy
that’s so sad news….
i think now the authorities are concerned about the leaks…..
Perhaps you want to take over publishing the leaks… on HBB? Haha…
LOL, then HBB will Rest In Peace.!!
ya pradeep it will be good to see, how you could get all the latest info about it….
now i wonder, how will wikileaks get their donation money…….
[...] Different sections of the world have given different responses to the diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks. America has demonized it. Chinese have blocked it. Iran called it as mischief. Russia called it ridiculous. Amazon shuts its internet servers. PayPal closed its financial account. [...]
not just paypal , mastercard has also dropped them from the list under US pressure …. this is turing to be ugly
