Wikileaks Dropped From PayPal Too?

Written by in Technology - Print This Post

Wikileaks used PayPal for getting donations from various supporters across the nation. WikiLeaks is an international non-profit media organization that publishes submissions of otherwise unavailable documents from anonymous news sources and leaks. Its website, launched in 2006, is run by The Sunshine Press. Donating using PayPal is one of the 6 ways Wikileaks used for getting donations.

I tried to donate using the PayPal donate button for testing, and I got the following message, which stated “This recipient is currently unable to receive money.”

PayPal Wikileaks

PayPal responded with this message,

“PayPal has permanently restricted the account used by WikiLeaks due to a violation of the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy, which states that our payment service cannot be used for any activities that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity. We’ve notified the account holder of this action”

Wikileaks also removed the ‘PayPal’ donation option from this donating section of theirs.
