Everyone knows about McAfee, leading antivirus and security software company. McAfee apparently launched its own URL Shortener McAf.ee.

Through TechCrunch, I came to know McAf.ee is using, and promotes, McAfee Labs’ real-time Global Threat Intelligence solution, which aims to protect users from new threats before they strike by using millions of sensors to gather real-time intelligence from host IP addresses, Internet domains, specific URLs, files, images, and email messages.

McAfee URL Shortener

Below you can see the original URL and the Shorten URL as well. It works similar to other URL shorteners, but I think it scans the shorten URL.

Shorten URL : http://mcaf.ee/047e6a

McAfee Short URL

As of now, McAf.ee is in beta stage. It functions similar to other URL Shortening service, didn’t find anything interesting, though they say it is safe. :)

Do you think this URL Shortener will be a different one? Please share your opinions below.

is great mcafee is offering this service

  12. This is nice, at least now we know that the short url posted is reliable and safe. They may not be so much on what we truly need but at least we know that what we click is a trusted site.

  13. Namit Gupta says:

There is always a risk associated with the shortened url, because we are unaware of the original url, it may be something spammy or undesired. As McAfee is a well known Security Application, its shortened urls shall be trustworthy.
