Apple knows exactly what “Nano” means! They are using in it as many gadgets as possible. Let it be in any field. First it was in MacBook Air, now they are turning their attention towards their much popular gizmo, iPod. They have something special for Apple fans this year. Apple recently introduced the New iPod Shuffle, which is much smaller than the ordinary iPod. Apple products are monochromatic. They are mostly white or silver.
I think Apple is trying to become a minimalist! Many of them have this thought. The new iPod shuffle (4GB) costs $79. They are mostly in black or silver. They announced it in March 11th 2009. The new iPod shuffle is designed with a pocket-clip style and has a 3.5 mm hole for a headphone plug. Apple says that there will also be third-party adapters that lets you add a remote to your favorite headphone. iPod remote is not common in shuffle. This new iPod has a feature called VoiceOver. If you press and hold the button a computerized voice announces the current track. Some people are really unhappy that Apple released the new iPod Shuffle with its controls on the earbud cord. It is annoying that iPod owners need to buy an extra dongle to control their new iPod Shuffle. Some say that an additional $15 to $20 for a dongle is ridiculous and that it eliminates all the value of the iPod Shuffle. So what ? Whether we need a extra dongle or not, still it is the most purchase-worthy iPod Shuffle Apple ever.
Below are some of the interesting new features of new iPod Shuffle :
- With 4GB of storage, it now holds up to 1,000 songs.
- Lets you enjoy multiple playlists.
- Exactly 1.8″ tall x 0.3″ thin in size.
- Easy access and user interface controls.
- Multi-music-lingual system.
- New feature called VoiceOver which tells you song titles and artists.

Apple's New iPod Shuffle
The controls in this new iPod shuffle are harder to use than in a traditional shuffle button and it depends on how and where you wear the shuffle. You can hold the button and hear the track name. You don’t need to touch anything and the shuffle will return to the music you were playing immediately. But this model too has one disadvantage! It has poor earbuds and are terrible staying in ears. You can use a regular old pair of headphones into the iPod and you play music just fine .You just don’t have any playback controls. The stop / start button on existing Apple headphones does nothing.
Critics say Apple keeps 1 GB Shuffle in the product line as the least expensive iPod at $49. The 2 GB $69 version is also being discontinued.
